Clyde J Robinson known as artist Clyde J is a husband, father of three, Sunday school teacher, and minister of music. He is a Louisiana native and raised with an Apostolic Pentecostal faith. In his younger years he awakened on Saturdays to the Sounds of Blackness, Clark Sisters, Men of Standard, Vicki Winans and Winans family. As a result, these gospel legends stirred up the gift in Clyde J. At the tender age of eleven while in bible study, the first lady at the time asked if anyone would come forward with a request from God. Upon this request Clyde began playing the keyboard the next day. As his love for instruments grew, Clyde joined the band in middle school and had an illustrious career as a band member.
Clyde J played multiple instruments that include saxophone, trumpet, and later covering all bass and percussion. Clyde then met fellow students with the gift to sing. They started a singing group and Clyde became the overseer with the roles of managing, song writing, producer, and background singer. As he grew older, he pursued a calling in Inspirational Christian Contemporary Music (CCM). Due to the tragic event of Hurricane Katrina, he was displaced musically for almost three years.
Because of his heart’s desire, music found its way back into his life. Clyde J has a mission to reach a diverse and multicultural audience of all ages. Clyde J delivers with a raspy and powerful melodic tone carried with depth and range. As an artist, his most memorable events include his performance on Atlanta Live WATC, at the IRAA Awards, including local city and state concerts. He is currently ministering through song and booking radio tours. Clyde J's newest single titled "He Reigns" is geared towards the sound of music to reach the masses. Throughout the many struggles Clyde J has faced he has set himself apart to create music that glorifies God and ministers to the listen audience.
Story Behind the Song
By Clyde J
Being a Christian, sometimes the cares of life distract us and cause us to lose focus on the order of things. We tend to magnify our problems and find ourselves always telling God how big our problem is rather than telling our problems how big our God is. We often move God from his place of authority and power as the King who Reigns over all. We forget that He is bigger than our issues and struggles. “He Reigns” is an anthem that puts the believer in a posture of surrender and casting all cares at His feet. Being a husband, father of three, working a full time job, Sunday school teacher and the battle of being an Independent artist is heavy. I found myself in a place where I’ve glorified my struggles and failures finding myself out of my place. I had to shake myself and bring my heart back to praise and worship. In the mist of my battle I lifted up my voice and began to sing, “Glory Hallelujah He Reigns,” So forever faithful always”. Then I reminded my soul that “Your blood has the power to save”. No matter the circumstance I have the confidence and peace of mind because I know that my Savior Reigns.
